Holy Smokes! Science and Religion Goes Viral

Maybe it was the fruit essay?

Today Science and Religion launches the Fruit and Goodwill Project!  Find someone down on their luck, homeless, and give them a small carton of cool, tasty berries fresh from the supermarket.  It doesn’t have to be some big extravagant thing – these cartons only cost a dollar or two, and the smile of thanks is going to make your day.  The planet gives us fruit for nothing – and by rights, this stuff belongs to everyone.

That single act of goodwill can give a person hope that life is not as bleak, and society not as cold and uncaring as it might have seemed.  They might remember it for years: with the internet, such an act could spread goodwill around the world in the course of a day.  And boy, do we ever need it!

Afterwards, why not drop us a line and let us know what happened?

I gave some strawberries to a homeless man not long ago. He said thank you, and walked on, eating them. Not much happened, really. He liked them, and I liked seeing him eat.
